"Staff Changes at BMC"

At the end of 2009 we were sorry to say "Au Revoir" to Logan Holt who had been with us for two years in the role of Engineering Technician. With his NZCE and practical experience in construction Logan was a tremendous asset to BMC. During his time with BMC he was "bitten by the engineering bug" and heads off this year to gain a degree in Structural Engineering. We wish Logan well with his studies and career as a Structural Engineer.

In January this year Henry Smeaton joined our Team. Henry is a Structural Engineering Graduate from Canterbury University. We are very happy to welcome Henry to Wanaka and look forward to introducing him to our clients. Henry also has some good practical construction experience which will be put to good use in developing structural solutions.

BMC - Consulting Engineers for "Wanacare"

Wanaka's $7 million integrated health-care centre is underway with BMC chosen as the "On the Spot" Consulting Engineers! Construction will begin soon at the Cardrona Valley Rd site, in time for completion in the first half of 2011.

Construction company Naylor Love has been contracted to build the centre, which has been in the pipeline for more than five years and is a key component of the Aspiring Retirement Village resource consent granted in 2008.

The developoment is a bold move by Wanacare Ltd's three partners, the Wanaka Medical Centre, Aspiring Medical Centre and Wanaka Physiotherapy. There is currently strong community support to co-locate because of space pressure at the existing premises, population growth projections and the lack of a hospital in Wanaka. The partners will retain their own separate business identities in the new facility. Radiology specialists and other visiting specialists will also work from the building and space is available for other tenants.

BMC looks forward to contributing to this wonderful facility for Wanaka.
Henry - relaxing on the balcony!
