This outstanding sloping site commanded a home with presence to make the most of the views across Lake Wanaka. This cast in-situ reinforced concrete home was designed for the Ewing family in Wanaka and makes use of extensive natural stone cladding and plaster finishes.
Unispan precast flooring units provide a first floor structure and the external decks. The challenging site requirements called for specific design of an underfloor drainage system to control potential ground water pressure and ensure a dry internal environment.
Cast in-situ ground floor internal walls provide lateral stability to resist earthquake loads with plywood clad timber framed walls used in the first floor level.
An architectural design sympathetic to the surroundings together with high build quality have combined to create a strong building on this interesting and challenging site. |
