The client and architect wanted to completely remodel this old family home located at the back of Wanaka township to significantly increase the floor area, add a second storey and open up the interior to the spectacular views.

In addition use of bold hardwood timbers and solid plaster were wanted. The site was subjected to 'very high' wind loading from its prominent location on sloping ground.

BMC provided simple sound structural solutions to create the large open spaces and glass frontage with key structural (steel) elements hidden. BMC also provided construction monitoring to give the clients confidence and peace of mind on the project.
