The project involves the assessment and design of strengthening works for this Category 1 Listed Heritage Building to 67% NBS. The deliverables include a detailed seismic assessment, drone survey and a complete structural building consent package including 3D structural drawings. Stringent heritage requirements preventing any change to the exterior of the heritage façade have added complexity to the project.
The proposed strengthening works include new reinforced concrete shear walls, timber diaphragms and post-tensioning to the four-storey clock tower.
BMC has worked closely with Christchurch City Council to coordinate the programme of works and the use of hoardings within Cathedral Square to ensure public safety.
BMC has delivered the detailed seismic assessment and drone survey on-time and on budget. This project is now complete.
