SIT Creative Arts Centre, Tay St Invercargill - New Build teaching facility

The St Johns Church new build development is a bold visual statement for the new $17m Creative Arts Centre for SIT.

BMC was engaged to provide engineering detailed design & construction monitoring services for the strengthening of the Church and the adjacent / integrated 3 storey new build facility.
The new build primary structure comprises a moment resisting steel frame in one direction and precast concrete shear wall panels in the orthogonal direction. The large 3 storey atrium area featuring an impressive glass clad wall element against the St Johns Church east elevation and also a cantilevered 3 storey steel. Due to the poor ground conditions screw piles support the ground floor foundation beam grillage and super structure.
BMC have modelled the complete new build using 3D Revit and ETABS software. A collaborative design team management process was clustered around a tight budget and deleviery timeline to achieve a high level of fully coordinated dimensioned BC documentation on time and on budget.
