We are looking for driven Intermediate to Senior Structural Engineers to become an integral part of our BMC team and join our busy Christchurch, Wanaka and Invercargill offices.

This role presents an opportunity for motivated individuals to make a significant contribution to our business, working collaboratively with a team of dedicated professionals.


The Role

We’re looking for engineers with initiative who can work collaboratively and independently when required. You’ll work closely with clients developing solutions for a wide range of problems.

We work on a diverse range of challenging projects for clients throughout New Zealand. We undertake structural design for architectural homes, high-profile commercial buildings, development of new building systems, and seismic assessment and strengthening of multi-storey and heritage structures. The ability to consistently produce quality documents in agreed time frames will be key to successfully perform this role.

As an intermediate engineer, you will work within a small team, as well as with the wider engineering group to deliver interesting projects and develop client relationships. You will be able to work independently but will have support and mentoring available from senior staff, who are experts in their fields, to help you develop and shape your engineering career.  

As a senior structural engineer, you will work and provide leadership within a small team, as well working as with the wider engineering group, to deliver interesting projects, and develop and maintain client relationships. You will be a role model and will have the option to mentor junior staff, as well as having support from the management team to help develop and shape your engineering career. 


The Candidate

We are looking for enthusiastic and capable people who possess the following qualities:

  • An NZ Engineering degree or equivalent – CPEng highly advantageous.
  • 4+ years and upwards, post qualification consultancy experience.
  • Multi-story building design experience.
  • Advanced technical knowledge and attention to detail.
  • On-site/client-facing experience is essential.
  • Project experience in structures (concrete, steel, timber) across commercial, residential and industrial projects to NZ design and code.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with others including across functional groups.
  • Current full New Zealand driver’s license.
