Challenge Wanaka 2019, saw 12 out of our 35 staff take it on. 11 athletes made up 4 teams and Chris Mawson completed the individual. A further 14 staff members and family were supporting the BMC sponsored aid station on the bike leg. All the teams did exceptionally well with all but one coming in the top 25 for their category.
With some last-minute changes and a few athletes pulling out (4 during training), the extended BMC Family stepped up. A big thanks to Berit and Emily for stepping in and making the race possible.
The teams all looked the part (thanks to the new uniforms) and we had many positive comments from competitors and volunteers alike. Training has started being talked about for next year’s event, along with team make up and strategies. There’re even some quiet murmurings of doing it solo from some of this year’s competitors.
