First Passive Co-Housing development in New Zealand

The development comprises two blocks, one 2 storey and the other two and half storey’s with a mixture of residential elements, located on a former school site utilising the original school house (being refurbished) as the communal area.
Site remediation of existing ground conditions was required prior to construction of super insulated slab on grade with the majority of the building fabric being SIP panels.
BMC have been an active participant in determining the appropriate detailing to comply with the eco design requirements along with the overall structural performance. BMC involvement included design of timber pole retaining walls and construction monitoring of the entire structural content of the project.
